We began the RENAP/birth certificate process yesterday. This starts with having to go to Erick's birth town, about 2 hours away, getting documents signed, and returning them to Guate City. Too much time in the car for Erick, so I left him with our sitter and made the journey to Tiquisate. There really aren't many tourist hot-spots in Guatemala, but the countryside is beautiful and lush. Tiquisate is lower in altitude and down toward the south coast, so has a definite warmer, humid climate. Not much there to see, but I got a peek at the hospital where Erick was born. It was inside a guarded gate and I snapped a few shots, then was asked to leave. I can't imagine that I looked too threatening, but it's probably not too common for whities to be in town taking pictures. I was on the lookout for his birth mother and secretly wishing I'd see her, she'd be pregnant with a little girl, and stop to ask me if Erick needed a little sister. Selfish thought, I know :) Didn't happen anyway.
I may be holding down this fort by myself soon. Angie, Emily, and the other Whitworth family are all at about the same spot in the process and probably leaving in 2-3 weeks. Yeah!! (not that I want them gone, just want them all home!) Erick will wonder where all of his playmates went! My mom is coming Nov 4-18 to keep us company for awhile. That's all for today!

LeeAnne-
I can only imagine how a white girl would look there taking pictures of a hospital there is Guat. Probably not an everyday occurance :-) I know you are just starting the birth certificate process but be patient God has his plan for when you all will be home. You really are not very far behind Emily. We look forward to having you at Bible Study! Take care-Nicole
I pray your RENAP process will be quick!!! :) I'm praying all of you home!

So funny they kicked you out for taking pictures! Hoping you make it through Renap quickly! If you don't get any roomies in November maybe Auri and I will come and visit!
Lee Anne they probably thought you were some undercover spy or something. I will pray that things go smoothly for you. I'm glad to hear that your mom is coming so you won't be alone there.
Yeah!!! You will be home very soon! Can't wait to see you guys!
I'm so happy you are making progress!!! I can't believe you will be by yourself! I'm glad your mom is coming to be with you. I know it will be lonely, but you will be home SOOOOOON!!!!

The finish line is in sight...and that is such a sweet place of victory. The call by God to step out of an ordinary life into the extrodinary is by far a great marathon. As you finish this part of the journey...may you run with perseverance the race marked out for you. May your process pick up speed as you sprint for the end. May your steps be quick and sure as run in obedience and in sync with the Father. As your running mates cross ahead of you I pray you hear the Father very loudly in your ears say "You are NOT alone...I am with you to the very end...keep running I'm right here." May you feel His presence ever near and may you know that it is His strength that enables you to keep running the extrodinary race. Please know we are cheering you home!!!! And cannot wait to jump up and down at the finish line.
Leanne and Pat,
I feel so priviledged to have read about your beautiful journey. You have made me think a lot about God, prayer and HIS plan. Thank you for that gift. I think Erick is an amazing little boy. I've shown Molly and Betsy his pictures. Love his chocolate brown eyes. Know that adoption is a love story on all sides...I think you and Pat are remarkable human beings.
